Job Description

We’re looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to build the platform underpinning our brilliant Virgin products and services.

During this fixed-term contract, you’ll work closely with our development teams to ensure a secure, stable, and fast platform for our wonderful members. You will be empowered to take ownership, from technical design and analysis, to running systems in production.

Tell me more

  • Operate and automate the Virgin Red AWS Cloud platform, developing new and secure features and administering existing infrastructure.
  • Advise and support development teams as they build Virgin products and services in the Cloud.
  • Provide solutions to reduce development effort, building shared modules, pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Be proactive in identifying, applying and adopting the best techniques and technologies.
  • Strive for high-quality technical design across our systems.

What You’ll Need

  • Extensive experience of AWS technologies CloudFront, API Gateway, Fargate, Lambda, S3 and IAM, as well as AWS automation using Python and Boto3.
  • The ability to independently develop complete solutions within a pre-defined framework.
  • Extensive experience of infrastructure as code, using terraform.
  • Experience of working in a multi-account AWS organisation and understanding of cross-account permissions.
  • An understanding of HTTP and RESTful APIs.
  • An understanding of source control and deployment pipelines.
  • A strong understanding of security best practices.
  • The ability to effectively communicate and work with other internal and external teams.
  • The drive to take on a wide variety of tasks, in both projects and operations.
  • Experience working with Auth0 or other OIDC compliant authentication providers, Javascript or Java, Docker, Drone CI, GoAnywhere MFT, Datadog, Snowflake, BitRise, Tableau or Contentful, is desirable.

Role type: Parental leave cover, 12-months fixed-term contract.
